About Spain Football player Raul Gonzalez

Raul-Gonzalez One of Spain's greatest footballers Raul Gonzalez Blanco or more commonly referred to as just simply Raul was born on June 27, 1977 in Madrid, Spain.

Raul is quite literally the face of Spanish football, even with the likes of Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi and Zinedine Zidane playing in Spain for a considerable amount of time, Raul is the only true countrymen out of the lot playing Real Madrid and for his beloved country of Spain.

Raul has played for his national team of Spain in many different international tournaments, such as 3 World Cups and two Euro championships with over 100 matches to his credit. He also has 47 goals in his tenure with the Spanish national team which makes him Spain's all-time leader in goals scored.

Just recently in the World Cup in Germany which took place in 2006, Raul became the most capped footballer in Spain's history passing Spanish legend Fernando Hiero.

Raul made history for the second time in the past World Cup in 2006 becoming just the 18th footballer ever to score in 3 World Cup tournaments; 1998 World Cup, 2002 World Cup and again in 2006 World Cup.

As of late though, Raul has not received the call up to play for Spain in international, some say it is due to his age and decrease in ability to play on the pitch, but Raul's play has lately been called incredible, so it will not be long before Spanish national team takes notice and adds one of the greatest strikers to ever wear a jersey for Spain again.
